The Penn State Abington Office of Global Programs is inviting students to join a diverse team of aspiring undergraduate student leaders to become members of Peer Action Global Learning Network (PAGLN).
The PAGLN program is a key component to providing a successful acclimation, global learning, and support for Abington students and community building meaningful connections and promoting access, diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice on campus.
Student leaders who qualify to participate in the program receive training to become
- International Student Welcome Leader (ISW)
- Peer Mentor for English 83 ad 197
- Global Ambassador
They perform all three duties simultaneously. The peer mentor training and team building activities start during spring semester when leaders meet monthly to participate into connecting activities.
They also attend a 1-credit course to prepare them to be a peer mentor.
They receive Global Ambassador training during first week of classes to become Global Programs office ambassador and represent study abroad. ISW Leader training takes place in July and focuses on preparing to execute International Student Welcome (ISW).
Peer Mentors are an integral part of providing a successful transition to college and meaningful engagement for new students enrolled in the first-semester English courses.
As a part of the International Student Welcome Team, International Student Welcome Leaders play a key role in providing a quality transitional experience for all incoming first-year students through the International Student Welcome (ISW) program. International Welcome Leaders assist welcoming new Penn State students as well as their parents and family members by introducing the campus and its resources and acting as a representative of The Pennsylvania State University.
Global Ambassadors serve as a connection to the campus community and provide support for education abroad along with event planning and marketing. They represent our office during various on campus and off campus events. This position is by appointment only.
The PAGLN program includes many personal and professional development opportunities to enhance leadership and communication skills, intercultural competency, and diversity IQ. The program provides networking opportunities and contributes to creating great memories and friendships while helping students to become impactful members of Penn State community.
Don't miss your chance to add this transformative experience to your resume. Please join our office to become a Peer Action Global Learning Network leader!
